Cooperation

The cooperative enterprise-form  differs from other companies. The idea is to support the member's economy by producing benefits and services for the members. Core cooperative principles are open membership, democracy and return on the result to the members.

Modern cooperatives are efficient enterprises but are at the same time societies forming unity. The S Group concentrates on business ideas that are close to the every-day life. Regional operation means that the decisions are made close to the local consumer. The result is used to develop local services. Unlike listed companies, our corporate form allows us to view things over the long term – our quarter is a quarter of a century rather than a quarter of a year.

Helsinki Cooperative Society Elanto operates in nine municipalities in the Greater Helsinki area and central Uusimaa. The business area constitutes Finland's strongest economic area, with over 1.2 million inhabitants.
